The Bunbury Diocesan Vision and Strategy

Introducing our new Vision and Strategy. Please refer to the documents below for further information

Our new Vision and Strategy builds on this in 3 ways:
1. Again encouraging each parish and organisation to share our faith in Jesus Christ by putting on an event this year. we are calling this Joy26+
2. Providing materials and ideas to help in proclaiming the gospel. Please refer to the Information Booklet above.
Why Proclamation? First, because it is a clear command in the Bible to witness to our faith in word and deed (Matthew 28.18-20, Acts 1.8). It forms an integral part of our baptismal responsibility to "confess Christ crucified, proclaim his resurrection and look for his coming in glory". It also fulfills the 1st and 2nd Marks of Mission: "to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom and to teach, baptise and nurture new believers". Second, because it is an area we are not necessarily good at. Third, proclamation follows appropriately from the contents of our last Vision and Strategy, and from (where each parish and organisation was asked to do one thing that enabled us to share the hope we have in Christ with those around us). Lastly. the need for and idea of Proclamation was one that several of our clergy and lay people had arrived at independently of one another.
3. Addressing the feedback from Synod, Clergy Conference and Deanery Hub meetings last year, as follows:
i. Set up a Working Group to collate examples where parishes are ministering well to young people and families, including Safe Church, and provide advice to the dioceses/deaneries about how we can extend this to more parishes and Anglican communities. We should include our Anglican schools and chaplains in this.
ii. Prayerfully consider how the diocese and deaneries might better support parishes and Anglican communities with dwindling and ageing congregatons.
iii. Request Bishop in Council to establish a sub-committee to examine our current Parish and Anglican community structures and appropriate structures for possible new mission initiatives.
iv. Examine how the diocese as a whole might best serve parishes and Anglican communities East of Albany Highway. A number of our clergy and lay people have expressed interest in being involved with this.
v. Conduct a review of LLM training, including what might be helpfully delivered via deanery Hubs.
vi. Trustees have asked the Diocesan Registrar to investigate and advise on our finances and giving.
